Crushed Brick

Crushed Brick

Searching for ‘crushed brick near me’? If you’re based in Merseyside or the surrounding area, then get in touch with the team at Grundy & Co.

As a company, we are dedicated to providing our customers with aggregates that are both environmentally and ecologically sustainable and meet industry standards of building materials. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of recycled aggregates – including 6F2 crushed brick.

What is 6F2 crushed brick?

6F2 is an aggregate that is made up of crushed concrete, brick and ceramics. It’s the by-product of demolition projects. Typically, this type of crushed brick aggregate is gathered from demolition sites.

One of the reasons why 6F2 crushed brick is so popular is that it provides an initial layer of hardcore which can be topped off with Type 1 sub base (which Grundy & Co also supply).

What is it used for?

Crushed brick is an environmentally friendly – yet affordable – alternative to quarried product. Whilst it is ideal for building renovation projects, it is also suitable for use in the base layers (when topped with MOT 1) of asphalt roads.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please find below a list of frequently asked questions from our customers

How much does crushed brick cost?

Crushed brick is comprised of concrete and broken asphalt which means it’s a cheaper and more environmentally-friendly solution.

The crushed brick price per ton in the UK can vary from one supplier to the next. But, much like anything else, the more aggregate material you need, the more you can expect to pay.

As a leading supplier of 6F2 crushed brick, we provide aggregates in bulk and guarantee some of the most competitive prices. So, why not get in touch for a free no-obligation quote?

What are the benefits of using recycled aggregates like these?

Put simply, recycled aggregates are leftover granular materials – such as sand, concrete, gravel, brick and stone – from demolition or construction sites.

Previously, these materials would have been taken from the site and dumped at the landfill. But as we’re more environmentally conscious than ever before, crushed bricks are commonly recycled and reused in the construction industry today.

Here are just a few of the reasons why:

    • Cost-effective – you’re purchasing a recycled material that is less expensive to manufacture so, therefore, it’s cheaper to buy.
    • Environmentally friendly – given their sustainability, crushed bricks are a fantastic alternative to more harmful construction products and, in turn, help to reduce your carbon footprint.
    • Durable – designed to stand the test of time, crushed brick aggregates are just as reliable as non-recycled aggregates.
    • Flexible – suitable for a wide range of applications – be it landscaping, construction, roads, etc.

What areas do you deliver crushed brick to?

Based in Widnes, Grundy & Co Excavations delivers 6F2 crushed brick to clients right on our doorstep in Merseyside and further afield. Just some of the areas we regularly deliver to include:
    • Chester

What can crushed brick aggregates be used for?

Crushed brick is considered an environmentally-friendly material for virtually any construction or landscaping project.

In concrete projects, crushed brick can be used to reduce the amount of concrete that’s required to complete the job. On top of this, it adds strength and visual appeal to an otherwise plain concrete finish.

Crushed brick aggregate is an excellent alternative to wood chips for ground cover around trees, bushes, and flowerbeds. Not only is it a longer-lasting material, but it also offers a durable solution to weed control.

This recycled aggregate is recommended by builders and contractors, too – especially for walkways and driveways where tarmacked surfaces create excessive and unwanted heat.

A perhaps more surprising use of this eco-friendly material is on flat roofs. Rather than pea stone, many installers opt to use crushed brick to add weight to rubber roofing. The aggregate allows for efficient drainage, and the density of the crushed brick ensures stability in high winds.

How soon can you deliver crushed brick to my site?

This depends on your location and how much crushed brick aggregate you need to complete your project.

Of course, the further our fleet has to travel and the larger the quantity, the longer it will take for us to deliver crushed brick aggregate to your site.

At Grundy & Co, we do everything we can to deliver recycled aggregates as quickly as possible using our tipper trucks. However, we advise our customers to give us at least 48 hours’ notice, if possible. This is to ensure availability and allow our team to load the truck safely and efficiently.

In some cases, we may be able to deliver crushed brick within 24 hours – but this is something you’ll need to discuss with our team on 0151 257 8816.

Why should I make Grundy & Co my first choice for crushed brick aggregates?

Here at Grundy & Co, we pride ourselves on offering the most eco-friendly aggregates for all manner of building projects.

Our 6F2 crushed brick is typically collected from demolition sites, which means it’s cheaper to buy than raw materials.

In opting to use our crushed brick aggregates, not only do we help you to keep your costs low, but we also help you to reduce your carbon footprint.

When brick structures are demolished, this creates untold amounts of used, unwanted, and often damaged bricks. Instead of transporting these to a landfill site, we crush them into smaller chips – allowing them to be repurposed for construction or landscaping jobs in the future.

At Grundy & Co, we regularly deliver crushed brick in bulk to clients across Merseyside and Cheshire.

If you need crushed brick or any other type of recycled aggregate for your next project, and you’re in the area, be sure to get in touch with us today.
